New Lake Taking Shape in the Valley

The new lake down in the valley is starting to come together.

The excavation is done and it’s already beginning to hold water. You can see the shape of it now and how it sits right in the middle of the ranch. It’s in a good spot and it’s going to be a strong addition out there.

Fishing won’t quite be ready this year, but that’s not really the point right now. It’s already doing what we hoped it would.

Elk are using it.

With how centrally located it is, it’s quickly becoming a consistent water source. That’s going to matter, especially as things dry out later in the season. It’s one more piece that helps keep animals holding on the ranch.

By next season, it should be in a really good place all around.

Elk Sheds Showing Up Across LP Ranch This Spring

Spring is one of the best times of year on LP Ranch. Everything starts to open up, and you get a clear look at what made it through the winter.

We’ve been finding sheds from several 300+ inch bulls around the ranch already. That’s always a good sign. Mature bulls made it through the season and are sticking around.

What’s even better is how local the herd has been. These elk aren’t just passing through. They’re holding on the ranch, using the same areas consistently. That usually means they’re comfortable and not getting pushed around elk sheds Colorado ranch.

Elk numbers look strong right now too. We’re seeing solid groups and a healthy mix of cows, younger bulls, and mature animals.

Shed season is always fun. Every antler you pick up tells you a little more about what’s out there and what the fall could look like.

So far, it’s shaping up the way you want to see it.

The Lodge Is Coming Together

The lodge is moving along right where it should be.

Framing is up, roof is on, and it’s starting to feel like a real structure out there instead of a job site. You can walk it now and get a sense of how everything flows. The main spaces are easy to read, and the scale is coming through the way we expected.

A lot of the heavy work is behind us at this point. Crews are staying on it and things are progressing steadily week to week.

It’s at that stage now where you can stand in it and see what it’s going to be. This is going to be a special place.
