The LP Ranch is a picturesque landscape that provides a variety of Big Game hunting opportunities. Elk, Mule Deer, Black Bear, and Turkey all call this property home. With an abundance of all, hunters can immerse themselves in unforgettable experiences surrounded by nature’s beauty.
There are no fences on the property, allowing for a more natural and authentic hunting experience. The hunts are conducted on a fair chase basis, where hunters must rely on their skills and knowledge to succeed, making the experience both challenging and fulfilling.
The LP Ranch, situated in the heart of the world’s largest elk herd, known as the White River Herd, is positioned at an elevation of approximately 7000 feet. With an estimated population of 40,000 elk in the herd, it truly lives up to its reputation as the elk capital of the world. Here, we have the opportunity to witness both resident elk that stay here seasonally and migrating elk passing through.
Members will have options of various hunts for archery, muzzleloader and rifle seasons. We’ll use a mix of spot and stalk, calling in the rut, or comfortable ground blinds depending on the hunt. The ranch produces impressive elk every year, with 330” bulls harvested annually. Although we cannot promise a shot at one every time, rest assured that these magnificent creatures are here.
The ranch is known for being a great migratory destination for large mule deer. While some bucks reside there year-round, many others come from higher country areas to rut. The unpredictability of which bucks will appear adds to the excitement of the hunt. Hunters can anticipate encountering bucks of various sizes, with some exceeding 180 inches.
The ranch has a diverse landscape including lush alfalfa fields, tall pinyon and juniper trees, scrub oaks, and sage brush. This varied environment provides a perfect habitat for mule deer to bed, feed and rut. Hunters looking to pursue mule deer on the ranch can either choose from a spot-and-stalk style or set up in a ground blind overlooking a deer rich travel corridor for glassing.
Colorado is home to a sizable population of black bears in the lower 48 states. The LP Ranch provides its hunters with an opportunity to pursue these majestic creatures. Whether employing spot and stalk techniques or strategically positioning near food and water sources, we will guide you to locations with the highest likelihood of encountering a black bear for an unforgettable hunting experience.
Spring turkey hunting on the LP Ranch can be a highly enjoyable experience. The landscape is dotted with pinyons that offer ideal roosting spots for the gobblers. The Toms are quite vocal, adding to the excitement of the hunt. Additionally, the abundance of food sources nearby ensures that the turkeys stick around, providing ample opportunities for hunters. Whether you prefer archery or shotgun hunting, a springtime adventure on the LP Ranch promises a truly rewarding and thrilling experience.
