Guided Turkey Hunts at LP Ranch

Turkey hunting at The LP Ranch is an experience grounded in real country and real birds.

Turkey hunting here is built around doing the fundamentals right. Strong habitat, low pressure, and consistent movement create the kind of setup Merriam’s turkeys respond to. Birds move naturally through pinyon-juniper, oak brush, and along river bottoms, giving you honest opportunities to work them the way it should be done. Calling matters. Setup matters. And when it comes together, it’s earned.

Located within GMUs 11 and 211 northwest of Meeker, Colorado, The LP Ranch spans over 4,000 acres of prime turkey ground. The ranch borders large stretches of public land, but access is controlled through the property, keeping pressure low and birds predictable. These are private land hunts with strong populations, where patient setups and clean calling lead to close encounters and birds that commit.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN LP RANCH TURKEY HUNT

We handle the details so you can focus on the experience.

From day one, your guide is working birds. Roosting them the night before, setting a plan for first light, and adjusting throughout the day based on movement, pressure, and weather. Mornings start early, getting set up within range before fly-down. Afternoons shift to travel corridors, water, and shaded edges where birds stay active.

Whether you’re hunting with a shotgun or archery setup, the approach is tailored to how you want to hunt. Shotgun setups focus on tight positioning, clean lanes, and calling birds into range. Archery hunts lean more patient, using decoys, terrain, and controlled movement to close the distance.

Accommodations

Hunters will be accommodated in comfortable cabins at The LP Ranch during their stay. Meals will be served in the ranch house dining room in a family or banquet style for breakfast and dinner throughout your visit. Each hunter will also receive a packed lunch for their day out in the field.

What To Wear

April in northwest Colorado can be mild, but temperatures still shift throughout the day, with cold mornings warming into the 50s and 60s by afternoon. Layering is key to staying comfortable as conditions change, including wind and occasional moisture. Start with a solid base and adjust as the day unfolds.

When To Arrive

Please plan to arrive at The LP Ranch at least one day prior to your hunt. This gives our team time to get you settled, go over logistics, and make sure your gear is ready to go. It also allows your body to adjust to the elevation before the hunt begins. A solid night of rest beforehand goes a long way.
